Helen deVos

Creada en 1970, la Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation es la más antigua y rica de todas las fundaciones de la familia DeVos, que incluyen la Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation (1990), la Daniel and Pamela DeVos Foundation (1992), y la Douglas and Maria DeVos Foundation (1992). Richard DeVos fue uno de los fundadores de Amway Corporation, es propietario del parque temático Orlando Magic (2004), y fue director financiero del Comité Nacional Republicano.

The Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation is a major funder of the religious right both in Michigan and the United States. In 2001, the Foundation ranked 9th in total assets among the top 20 conservative foundations and its grants have increased from $4 million annually to $25 million in 2001 (source). According to Russ Bellant’s The Religious Right in Michigan Politics, the Foundation has funded several “extreme right” groups including the Eagle Forum, Beverly LaHaye’s Concerned Women for America, and US English.
